Located within the Naval Base at Devonport is the Naval Health Service Organisation and hospital. The 60-bed Navy Hospital at Devonport Naval Base serves both military and civilian personnel, and also the general public on a fee-paying basis. They are ACC accredited, with surgical, xray and physiotherapy facilities, a specialist anaesthetist and visiting consultant surgeons. Naval Health Services also provide first aid training for all Naval military personnel.
The Navy Hospital's Hyperbaric Unit
The hyperbaric unit is the North Island's only accredited facility for diving related emergencies, providing emergency recompression 24 hours, 7 days a week to the public. It also provides diving and hyperbaric medicine training and expertise to the military and civilian medical and nurse practitioners, and Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy treatments to military and public patients.
