Path to a Nation

Museum Education Programmes for the Social Sciences

The museum contains a wealth of treasures to enlighten the path of budding Historians and Social Scientists. Its vast resources mark the progression of New Zealand’s journey of nationhood and capture the essence of her identity.

Especially relevant to secondary students and teachers, the education programmes designed and run by the museum are shaped around significant themes which directly relate to both the New Zealand Curriculum and NCEA topics.

The Navy Museum offers a full time educator and resource packs which contain a range of adaptable resourced activities with the option of completing orientation tasks prior to a museum visit; a range of interactive and independent tasks to be completed throughout the museum visit as well as possible follow up activities for returning to class.
