Christening Bell.

Bell of HMNZS TUI, 1970 detail of inside of bell.

Ceremonial bell from HMNZS TUI, 1970.  A tradition originating in the Royal Navy is for children to be baptised under the ship's bell, or to use the bell as a christening bowl.  Once the baptism is completed, the child's name may be inscribed inside the bell.  HMNZS TUI's bell is engraved upon the rim with the names of those christened onboard.
