The silk scarf worn whilst the donor was ashore. HMNZS PUKAKI, a Loch class anti-submarine frigate was in RNZN service from 1948 – 1965 and undertook a variety of duties.  These duties included escort and blockade patrol service in support of the United Nations Naval Force during the Korean War, escorting the supply ship HMNZS ENDEAVOUR to Antarctica in late 1956 as part of  ‘Operation Deep Freeze’, and operating as a weather ship in the British hydrogen bomb tests at Christmas Island (‘Operation Grapple’).
